Assistant Girls Basketball Coach
St. Petersburg Catholic High School 

St. Petersburg Catholic High School is seeking a passionate and committed Assistant Girls Basketball Coach to help support and grow our girls basketball program. This individual will work closely with the Head Coach to develop student-athletes both on and off the court while representing the values and mission of SPC.

Position Overview

The Assistant Girls Basketball Coach will assist in all aspects of the basketball program including practices, game preparation, player development, and program organization. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about mentoring high school athletes, teaching fundamentals, and helping build a competitive and positive team culture.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting practices and game preparation

• Teach basketball fundamentals, skill development, and team concepts

• Provide individual instruction and feedback to student-athletes

• Support in-game coaching responsibilities including substitutions, scouting, and strategy adjustments

• Help monitor academic progress and promote strong character, sportsmanship, and teamwork

• Assist with program logistics such as equipment, uniforms, and travel organization

• Help with scouting opponents and film breakdown when applicable

• Maintain positive communication with players, coaches, and the athletic department

• Represent St. Petersburg Catholic and the Barons program with professionalism and integrity

• Assist with offseason skill development opportunities and open gym sessions when permitted

Qualifications

• Previous basketball playing and/or coaching experience preferred

• Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals and game strategy

• Ability to motivate and mentor high school student-athletes

• Strong communication and organizational skills

• Commitment to fostering a positive, faith-based team culture

• Ability to work evenings and weekends during the basketball season

Requirements

• Must complete all Diocese of St. Petersburg Safe Environment requirements

• Must pass required background screening and fingerprinting

• First Aid/CPR certification preferred
