Principal - Nativity Catholic School

Nativity Catholic School, located in Brandon, Florida, in the Diocese of St. Petersburg, seeks a Principal beginning with the 2026-2027 school year. Reporting to the Pastor and in collaboration with the Office of Catholic Schools, the Principal fosters a strong Catholic identity and ensures academic excellence. Nativity provides a superior Catholic education to approximately 600 students in PreK3 through 8th grade. The mission of the school is, in partnerships with our families, to prepare and inspire each student academically and spiritually to serve the Body of Christ. Our vision is to form the Saints and Scholars of the 21st Century through the four values of Model: Jesus and the Catholic Church; Respect the Diversity of all God’s children; Learn because it is our vocation; and Achieve our God-given Potential.

Qualifications

The Principal is the Chief Operating Officer of Nativity Catholic School with ultimate responsibility for all academic aspects of the school. S/he sets policies, oversees all programming, and ensures the institution meets all state, diocesan, and accrediting requirements. The Principal provides leadership to the faculty and staff and works directly with students and families when discerning admissions or compliance with school policy.

The successful candidate has a clear vision of and dedication to the values and philosophy of Catholic education. Candidates must understand the stewardship challenges facing Catholic schools and possess strong business/financial management skills, curricular insights, maintain a working relationship with the parish leadership and the Office of Catholic Schools and Centers, and communication skills to ensure the long-term sustainability of the school.

The successful candidate will be a spiritually motivated practicing Roman Catholic, with excellent communication and inter-personal skills, a future-oriented academic vision, knowledge of current educational methods, and proven leadership skills.

Candidate must:

    • Be a practicing Roman Catholic in full communion with the Church.
    • Have a strong commitment to Catholic education and the Church’s evangelizing mission.
    • Have earned (or in the process of earning) a Graduate degree in Educational Leadership or equivalent from an accredited institution.
    • Hold or be eligible to obtain a valid Florida Educational Leadership Certificate (All Levels).
    • Meet Florida Department of Education and accrediting agency requirements for school principals.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in pedagogy, curriculum, and child development.
