Head Coach - Softball

St. Petersburg Catholic High School is seeking a highly motivated and passionate Head Softball Coach to lead, rebuild, and grow our softball program. This position is ideal for a coach who is committed to long-term program development, player growth, and fostering a positive, competitive culture that aligns with SPC’s mission and values.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead, organize, and oversee all aspects of the SPC softball program.

• Develop and implement a long-term vision for rebuilding and strengthening the softball program.

• Plan and conduct effective practices that emphasize fundamentals, skill development, and game strategy.

• Establish and maintain a positive, disciplined team culture focused on accountability, effort, and sportsmanship.

• Manage game preparation, lineups, and in-game decision-making.

• Communicate clearly and consistently with student-athletes, parents, athletic administration, and school staff.

• Support and encourage multi-sport student-athletes while setting clear expectations for commitment.

• Ensure compliance with school policies, athletic department guidelines, and FHSAA rules.

• Supervise and collaborate with assistant coaches (if applicable).

Program Development Expectations

• Plan, organize, and host SPC softball summer camps to promote skill development, program visibility, and youth engagement.

• Develop and oversee a fall ball league or offseason program designed to grow participation, retain players, and prepare athletes for the spring season.

• Actively promote the softball program within the school and local community to increase interest and participation.

• Assist with offseason training plans and development opportunities for current and prospective student-athletes.

Qualifications

• Prior softball coaching experience at the high school, club, or collegiate level preferred.

• Strong knowledge of softball fundamentals, strategy, and player development.

• Demonstrated ability or strong desire to build and sustain a competitive program.

• Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills.

• Commitment to mentoring student-athletes academically, athletically, and personally.

• Ability to model professionalism, integrity, and enthusiasm.

• Must meet all school, diocesan, and background screening requirements.
