Position Overview

St. Petersburg Catholic High School is seeking a dedicated and energetic Assistant Track & Field Coach to support the development of our student-athletes both on and off the track. This individual will work closely with the Head Track & Field Coach to help build a competitive, disciplined, and faith-centered program that reflects the values and standards of our school.

Primary Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Coach with planning and conducting daily practices

• Provide technical instruction in assigned event areas (sprints, distance, jumps, throws, or hurdles, depending on experience)

• Support athlete development, conditioning, and injury prevention

• Assist with meet-day preparation, athlete supervision, and event management

• Help foster a positive team culture emphasizing sportsmanship, accountability, and respect

• Communicate effectively with athletes, coaching staff, and school administration

• Support program logistics including equipment setup, breakdown, and organization

• Uphold and model the mission, values, and policies of St. Petersburg Catholic High School

Qualifications

• High school, collegiate, or club-level track & field coaching experience preferred

• Strong knowledge of track & field fundamentals and event techniques

• Ability to mentor and positively influence high school student-athletes

• Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills

• Commitment to professionalism, reliability, and collaboration

• Must meet all diocesan, school, and FHSAA coaching requirements (background screening, certifications, etc.)

Time Commitment

• Practices held after school during the track & field season

• Availability for weekday meets and occasional weekend competitions

• Preseason meetings and training as scheduled by the Athletic Department

Compensation

• Seasonal stipend, commensurate with experience
