Summary of Responsibilities: The Dean of Curriculum & Instruction helps lead the school’s curriculum and instructional program by bringing the school’s Theory of Action to life in daily practice. This role oversees key components of the instructional program, supports teachers through regular coaching and feedback, and designs and facilitates professional development that strengthens instructional quality and student outcomes.
The Dean of Curriculum & Instruction also serves on the Success Team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct formal and informal classroom observations and provide ongoing, actionable feedback to strengthen instructional delivery and support student growth.
- Lead Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to support high-quality unit planning, assessment design, and data analysis. This includes setting unit instructional goals; developing Unit Syllabi and Unit Performance Scales; and creating and managing an observation/coaching schedule aligned to those goals.
- Support the collection, disaggregation, and analysis of student achievement data to identify instructional and student-centered problems of practice and implement research-based strategies to improve outcomes.
- Contribute observation notes and input to teacher evaluations and participate in evaluation conferences with instructional staff.
- Oversee curriculum development and assessment systems to ensure alignment, rigor, and consistency across courses.
- Design and facilitate instructional professional development, including onboarding and ongoing coaching for new and returning teachers.
- Collaborate with the Principal and Success Team to coach, mentor, and develop instructional staff.
- Collaborate with the Principal on academic accreditation processes and Cristo Rey Network/mission-aligned reporting and initiatives (as applicable).
- Collaborate with the College Counselor to implement the school’s standardized testing program.
- Collaborate with the Registrar and College Counseling team on student scheduling and course placement, in coordination with the Principal.
- Create, track, and monitor the daily coverage schedule for instructional absences and PTO.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualification & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of Cristo Rey Tampa Salesian High School, with the ability to clearly articulate and advance the mission
- 3–5 years of instructional experience required
- Master’s degree in Educational Leadership preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with student information systems preferred (PowerSchool a plus)
- Strong desire to work with high school students and teachers, with enthusiasm for building a positive school culture and community
- Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational, administrative, and time-management skills
- Spanish proficiency preferred
