Instructional Aide

Department: Elementary/Middle Education
Location: Largo, FL

St. Patrick Catholic School is a Christ-centered environment, which promotes academic excellence, spiritual and social development, through engaging instruction, community service, and a celebration of our Catholic faith.

St. Patrick Catholic School is looking to fill a part-time position for a classroom aide in our elementary classrooms. The hours for the position are flexible (20-25 total hours) Monday through Friday.

The individual selected for this position shall be at least 18 years of age, in the process of becoming professionally prepared to supervise young children, and must meet the requirements of St. Patrick Catholic School and the Diocese of St. Petersburg. This individual must have a warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others, be able to relate well to children and employees, and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with the school's educational philosophy. It is preferred that this person is a practicing Catholic, however, this is not mandatory. The individual, however, must support the Catholic Church and have an understanding of the Catholic faith. They are expected to model Gospel values and be a positive role model for our students.

The individual selected for this position shall be able to speak, read, and write English fluently (Bilingual - English/Spanish is a plus). They must complete Diocesan Safe Environment training and a Level II Background Check as required by the Diocese of St. Petersburg, Office of Schools and Centers. The compensation for this position is $15/hour.

General Duties and Responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to the following:

  1. Assisting in the implementation of the daily program under the direction of the teacher.
  2. Assisting in planning and preparing the learning environment.
  3. Supervising the classroom when the teacher is out of the room.
  4. Helping with general housekeeping and maintenance of the classroom.
  5. Assisting the teacher in any other appropriate ways.
  6. Maintaining professional attitudes and loyalty to the school.
  7. Treating all children with dignity and respect.
  8. Attending all required staff meetings and recommended training programs and conferences.
  9. Participating in professional workshops, In-services and workshops as requested by the Principal.
  10. Maintaining confidentiality about children, their families, and other employees outside the school.
  11. Supervising outside playground activities
  12. Cafeteria supervision.
  13. Follow directions given by teacher or immediate supervisor.
  14. Other duties as assigned
