Mission & Ministry Team Coordinator for Faith in Action

Position Description:
The Coordinator for Faith in Action works within the Department of Mission & Ministry to serve the Academy of the Holy Names community (students, faculty and staff, parents, and alumni) by providing apostolic service programming and social praxis that nurtures inspires hearts of service and the development of right-relationships. These programs help form their understanding of and living out of the school mission and its Catholic identity in ways that are consistent with the core values and charism of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary.

Reports to: Director of Mission & Ministry

Requirements:
A passion for community service and immersion-based mission trips.
Bachelor’s Degree; post-graduate work in religious studies, and/or social work.
Experience in faith formation, service/immersive trips, education, and/or community organizing.
Documented interculturality training or diversity and inclusion coursework is a plus.

Classification: 10-month (with some days over the summer), full-time salaried position with some weekend assignments (for retreats or service) and the minimum expectation of chaperoning 1-2 week long mission trips.

Major Responsibilities:
1. The Coordinator for Faith in Action is a faith leader who collaborates with other members of the Mission & Ministry Team to promote in the community a life of service and develop awareness of right relationships with God, self, and others, in the light of Gospel values and the charism and core values of the Sisters of the Holy Names. This person translates faith into action by facilitating PreK-12 service-learning programming, justice education, and dialogue that deepens students’ and adults’ relatedness to others with the rest of humanity and creation.
2. Coordinates the on-going local apostolic service programming in the Middle and High School, planning meaningful, guided experiences of living out the Catholic identity, Gospel values, and core values and corporate stances of the Sisters of the Holy Names.
3. Organizes community service experiences for middle and high school students on “Mission Days”, detailing logistics, student and adult expectations, and formation.
4. Networks make site visits and build and maintain contacts with partnering organizations and faith-based non-profits willing to host volunteers for service.
5. Collaborates with theology teachers in educating a basic literacy in Catholic Social Teaching, along with implementing reflection to allow for faith integration.
7. Engages Middle and High School students in ongoing Christian community service experiences.
8. Assists students in finding and committing to meaningful service site placements for their ongoing community service hour requirement, providing regular touch points during their four years.
9. Manages the mobile platform for communications of service opportunities and tracking service hours of high school students, orienting them to the platform, and monitoring their completion of service as part of their graduation requirement.
10. Acts as the primary coordinator of ongoing local apostolic service in the Lower School. Works with classroom teachers and parents to design effective, age-appropriate service experiences with integration into the curriculum. Partners with teachers in prayer and instruction to foster skills for compassion and service in students, along with faith integration.
11. Collaborates with others to develop coordinated opportunities for the AHN community to meet human needs or support justice efforts that align with our SNJM core values, corporate works of mercy, and/or CST principles.
12. Works with the Director of Mission and Ministry to redesign and coordinate the AHN Mission Trip Program, planning the logistics and formation of meaningful, guided experiences that inspire global interdependence and a preferential option for the poor. Serves as an adult leader for at least one mission trip during the year.
13. Collaborates with members of the department and the Director of Mission & Ministry in promoting the mission of the Academy of the Holy Names among students, staff, parents, and alumni.
