2024/2025 Middle School Religion/Social Studies Teacher-St. Raphael

Department: Elementary/Middle Education
Location: St. Petersburg, FL

Opportunity: Saint Raphael Catholic School seeks a Religion/Social Studies Middle School Teacher who is talented and energetic to instruct our middle school students for the 2024-2025 school year. Applicants must be a practicing Catholic committed to the ministry, philosophy, and goals of Catholic education.

Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's or Master’s degree in education or a related field.
2. Education background and teaching experience preferred.
3. Valid FLDOE Elementary Teaching Certification or FLDOE Official Statement of Eligibility
4. Successful completion of Level 2 background screening, safe environment certification, and mandated diocesan training.


Position Responsibilities:
1. Plan and deliver engaging lessons that align with the teachings of the Catholic Church and meet the educational needs of students in grades 6 through 8.
2. Teach fundamental Catholic doctrines, scripture, sacraments, moral teachings, and traditions in an age-appropriate manner.
3. Create a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel comfortable expressing their faith, asking questions, and engaging in discussions about religious topics.
4. Collaborate with other teachers, administrators, and parents to support the spiritual development of students and promote a sense of community within the school.
5. Develop and implement engaging and standards-based social studies curriculum for students in grades 6 through 8, incorporating state standards and educational best practices.
6. Teach a range of social studies topics, including but not limited to world history, U.S. history, geography, government, and economics, in an interactive and accessible manner.
7. Facilitate meaningful discussions, debates, and collaborative activities that encourage students to think critically, analyze primary and secondary sources, and develop informed opinions.
8. Incorporate a variety of instructional strategies, including group activities, discussions, multimedia resources, and hands-on experiences to enhance student learning.
9. Assess student understanding through quizzes, tests, projects, and other forms of assessment, providing timely feedback to students and parents/guardians.
10. Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued, challenged, and encouraged to succeed.
